Qualifications

  • A clean driving licence – HGV Category C is desirable but support will be given to obtain it.

Job description

My client is a Local Authority who are looking to appoint an experienced HGV mechanic to undertake maintenance, servicing and repairs to the municipal fleet.

Responsibilities
  • Preparing vehicles for MOT, servicing and repairs across our HGV vehicles such as refuse collection vehicles, road sweepers and light to medium sized commercial vehicles
  • Diagnosing faults and carrying out timely workshop repairs
  • Attending breakdowns and resolving issues roadside when possible
  • Undertaking repairs, maintenance and servicing to agricultural vehicles, plant and equipment including mowers – training can be provided
  • Participating in an out-of-hours standby service on a rota basis when the fleet is operational outside normal working hours and at weekends – an additional stand‑by allowance is payable when on‑call
Qualifications
  • A clean driving licence – HGV Category C is desirable for road testing, but our client will support you in gaining this licence if needed
  • Hands‑on experience with maintenance and repair of petrol and diesel engine vehicles and working with HGV municipal vehicles such as refuse collection vehicles and road sweepers
