Job summary

KDM Hire Ltd. is seeking an experienced HGV Mechanic at our Cookstown depot to maintain and repair our fleet, ensuring safety, reliability and compliance. You will diagnose faults, source parts, and support roadside breakdowns as needed while delivering excellent customer service.

The role requires proven heavy vehicle experience, diesel engine know-how, diagnostic tool proficiency, and a valid driving licence. A mechan ic qualification is desirable and welding is an advantage.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience as a mechanic working on heavy vehicles.
• Proficient with diagnostic tools and equipment.
• Experience with diesel engines.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Team player with ability to work in a small team.
• Experience in the truck/trailer industry is essential.
• Welding ability is an advantage.
• Full and valid driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Carry out routine maintenance and repairs on an extensive fleet of heavy vehicles including low loaders, HIAB cranes, tractor units and rigid trucks.
• Diagnose faults using diagnostic software, source correct parts and liaise with Stores.
• Deliver a high level of customer service at all times.
• Assist with roadside breakdowns on an occasional basis.
• Ensure all jobs and service records are completed accurately and on time.
• Maintain a high standard of workshop cleanliness and ensure work complies with health and safety procedures.
