Job summary

A logistics client based in Rotherham is seeking an experienced HGV Mechanic to ensure the safety and efficiency of their fleet. In this role, you will diagnose and repair various types of HGV and trailers, conduct routine maintenance, and prepare vehicles for MOT. The ideal candidate will have mechanic experience and relevant qualifications. Pay ranges from £19 to £23 per hour, with flexible shifts available.

Qualifications

  • Previous mechanic experience in automotive or heavy equipment repair required.
  • IRTEC / IMI accreditation is desirable.
  • Full HGV driving licence (C / C+E) is a plus.

Overview

We are seeking a skilled HGV Mechanic to our logistics client based in Rotherham, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining various types HGV and trailers. This role is essential in ensuring the safety and efficiency of our fleet and equipment.

Responsibilities
  • Perform diagnostics and repairs on trailer systems including braking systems, hydraulics, suspension, and electrical components.
  • Conduct routine maintenance on trailers and heavy equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Utilize hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment for repairs and fabrication tasks.
  • Execute brake repair, brake tests, alignment services, and transmission work as needed.
  • Prepare vehicles for MOT.
  • Maintain accurate records of repairs and services performed on each unit.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient workflow and high-quality service delivery.
  • Provide exceptional customer service by communicating effectively with clients regarding repairs and maintenance needs.
Qualifications
  • Previous mechanic experience in automotive or heavy equipment repair is required; dealership experience is a plus.
  • IRTEC / IMI accreditation (desirable).
  • Experience with specific brands (e.g. Mercedes / DAF) (desirable).
  • Full HGV driving licence (C / C+E) (desirable).
  • Previous experience in a dealership workshop environment (desirable).
  • Knowledge of vehicle emissions systems, telematics, CAN - BUS systems (desirable).
  • Recognised qualification (e.g. City & Guilds, NVQ Level 3, or equivalent) in Heavy Vehicle / Commercial Vehicle Maintenance (desirable).
Schedule & Benefits
  • The shifts we are looking to cover are ideally 4 on 4 off but would also consider a combination of Monday to Friday / Tuesday to Saturday / Sunday to Thursday.
Pay

Pay-£19-£23 per hour
