Job summary

A leading recruitment agency is seeking an experienced HGV Mechanic in England to provide service and maintenance for an internal fleet. This full-time permanent role offers flexible daytime hours and competitive pay, with the responsibility of carrying out inspections, repairs, and ensuring fleet uptime. Ideal candidates will have at least 3 years of experience post-apprenticeship and strong diagnostic skills.

Qualifications

  • At least 3 years of post-apprenticeship experience as an HGV Technician.
  • Ability to accurately record maintenance and repairs.
  • Knowledge of refuse collection vehicles is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out routine inspections and repairs on heavy goods vehicles.
  • Attend vehicle breakdowns as needed.
  • Prepare vehicles for annual MOT tests.
  • Manage workload to ensure fleet uptime.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues.

Job Role : HGV Mechanic

Location : Manchester

Pay : £42,500 - £45,000

Hours : M-F Days 7am-4pm or 8am-5pm (Flexible)

Contract : Full time permanent role

HGV Mechanic / Technician / Fitter opportunity

We are currently seeking a skilled HGV Mechanic / Technician / Fitter to provide service, maintenance, and breakdown support for an internal fleet of circa 30 HGVs at our site. This role is an additional headcount as we look to grow the existing team. All overtime worked is paid at time and a half.

This will be a Monday – Friday day shift with flexibility on start time and hours worked of either 42.5 hrs or 45 hrs per week

HGV Mechanic / Technician / Fitter Duties
  • Carry out routine inspections, maintenance, and repairs on heavy goods vehicles
  • Attend vehicle breakdowns as needed
  • Prepare and present vehicles for annual MOT tests
  • Manage your own workload to ensure maximum fleet uptime
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and body system issues
  • Accurately record maintenance, repairs, and parts usage
HGV Mechanic / Technician / Fitter Experience Required
  • Qualified HGV Technician with at least 3 years’ post-apprenticeship experience
  • Strong technical and product knowledge
  • Excellent diagnostic and computer skills
  • Knowledge of refuse collection vehicles is desirable but not essential
