Job Opportunity: HGV Mechanic

Location: Leyland

Contract: Full Time (36.25 hours/week over 4 days) | Permanent

Salary: £34,434 - £37,280

Are you a skilled HGV Technician looking for a new challenge? We are looking for someone to join our client's dedicated Vehicle & Plant Maintenance Team

Responsibilities

• As an HGV Mechanic, you\'ll be responsible for maintaining and repairing their diverse fleet of vehicles and equipment to the highest standards. You\'ll work in a busy, supportive workshop environment, with hours condensed over four days (7:00am - 4:45pm), and overtime opportunities available.
• Servicing and repairing vehicles and plant equipment as directed by the Workshop Manager
• Ensuring compliance with DVSA standards
• Diagnosing faults and repairing specialist equipment
• Attending roadside breakdowns and arranging recovery when needed
• Completing all paperwork accurately and efficiently
• Ordering parts and equipment from suppliers
• Adhering to Health & Safety regulations
• Supporting colleagues and apprentices with guidance and training

Who We're Looking For

• Level 3 qualification in HGV vehicle repair or equivalent experience
• Experience with municipal vehicles and equipment
• Skilled in fabrication, welding, and cutting techniques
• Knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems
• Strong understanding of RCV operation
• Flexible, positive attitude and team-oriented approach
• Experience with PMIs and MOT preparation
• Valid HGV Class 2 Licence (essential)
• MIG Welding Level 2 (desirable)

Additional Requirements

• Successful applicants will undergo a DBS check (paid for by the Council)
