North Yorkshire Council is offering a weekend-friendly Refuse Driver role based at the Harrogate depot. You’ll cover a large patch, lead a crew, and ensure safe LGV operations while delivering a high standard of public service.
Shifts Tue–Fri with occasional weekends; opportunity for progression into supervisory or management roles and access to staff benefits. Requires Category C license, LGV experience, and a valid Driver CPC with 3+ years.

We have vacancies in Harrogate for HGV Refuse Drivers.
Operating from our Harrogate depot, you’ll cover a vast and varied patch—505 square miles of scenic countryside, charming villages, and bustling towns like Harrogate, Knaresborough, and Ripon.
Each day, you'll receive your route and take the lead in safely navigating your vehicle, assisting your crew and delivering the friendly, top-tier service our residents count on. We call this teamwork!
Your role as a Refuse Driver is extremely important, as you’ll be on the front line of a vital public service.
This position offers a natural pathway towards supervisory or operational management roles, with further opportunities to develop and transition into other areas of our extensive range of services. You’ll be working in a supportive environment, with regular supervision and access to a wide variety of staff benefits.
Shifts are Tuesday to Friday with the very occasional weekend working, for which you will receive a £30 weekend allowance providing you work 6 hours or more.

Typical working days and hours currently vary between different areas of the new council, but you need to be prepared to start early. Some weekend and bank holiday working may be required.
