Job description

HGV Highways Operatives – South Molton

Our clients are looking for HGV Highways Operatives to join their hardworking dedicated team in South Molton. You will be an HGV driver ideally with experience of operating a Hot Box; training can be given but hopefully you will already have experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Work as part of a team undertaking Highways repairs, ranging from Patching, Resurfacing, Potholes, Drainage, Footways and General Highway Maintenance.
• Use technology (tablets/apps) to input safety data and maintenance records.
• Drive/operate plant and equipment where trained, necessary for the day to day tasks set.
• Take responsibility for vehicles/plant/materials in your charge.
• Where appropriate provide direction/supervision of the work to less experienced operatives.

Essential Skills

• HGV Driving License ideally clean some points accepted.
• A commitment to Health and Safety.
• Good communication skills and basic literacy and numeracy.
• Ability to undertake a high level of manual work and work outdoors in all weathers.

Desirable Skills

• CSCS Card.
• Highways experience.
• New Roads and Street Works (NRSWA) not essential.
• Operative Accreditation Lantra 12D not essential.

Rate of Pay

• £13 – £13.50 per hour depending upon experience.
• Overtime at 150% after 40 hours.
• These will be PAYE positions so you will benefit from accrued Holiday Pay from day one, pension contributions (after a qualifying period), weekly pay, no umbrella payments or fees. Only tax and National Insurance deductions will be shown on your payslip.
