Job summary

Ferguson Transport & Shipping in Grangemouth is seeking General Haulage Drivers to join a long-established, family-owned logistics provider with a modern fleet and flexible shift patterns.

We offer permanent roles with full-time or part-time hours, competitive hourly rates (£15.30–£16.83) depending on skills and experience, and a range of benefits including pension, health services, and ongoing training. You will drive HGV1 vehicles and ensure safe loading and delivery.

Qualifications

• HGV Class 1 (CE) Licence required.
• Driver Qualification Card required.
• ADR licence would be an advantage but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Drive HGV1 vehicles with attachments when needed.
• Maintain training to drive artic/rigid vehicles per policy.
• Load general cargo such as timber, forestry products, fertiliser, concrete, steel, paper.
• Ensure safe loading and secure cargo at start and throughout journey.
• Ensure safety of others while traveling with cargo and complete daily checks.
• Complete tachograph records and paperwork accurately.

About The Role

We are currently recruiting for HGV Drivers. This is a great opportunity for drivers who enjoy working for a prestigious logistics company, driving a modern and well-maintained fleet of vehicles and who are looking for flexibility in their life.

Key Responsibilities

• To drive HGV1 vehicles with attachment trailers when necessary: attachments to include flatbeds, curtain siders, occasional drop-sided trailers, low loaders, tanker trailers, forestry pin trailers
• To maintain and update training to drive artic and rigid vehicles to comply with company needs and legislation
• To load with care, general cargo including forestry products, round wood, fertiliser, concrete products, steel and paper products and any other cargo required
• To ensure safe and secure loading of cargo at commencement and throughout duration of the journey to off-loading cargo
• To ensure safety of other employees and members of the public when travelling with cargo
• To undertake to complete all necessary daily checks/records and proper use of tacho cards when carrying cargo on company business and complete relevant paperwork correctly

Locations

We operate from several locations throughout the UK and have strategically positioned ourselves near to major cities, which allows quicker and easier access to customers and major transports route. These include:

• West Highland (Corpach/Fort William, Isle of Skye, Mallaig & Kishorn)
• North Highland (Inverness & Invergordon)
• Central Scotland (Grangemouth & Methil)
• England (Carlisle)

About you

Key Requirements:

• HGV Class 1 (CE) Licence
• Driver Qualification Card
• ADR licence would be an advantage, however this is not essential
• Experience of Timber Haulage would be desirable for Forestry Crane Operator positions
• You will be delivering to outdoor sites mainly so an aspect of the work will be outside in all weather conditions
• Working as part of a team is a must so we are looking for someone who is eager to engage with others to get the task at hand done.
