Job description

Our public sector client is seeking a Waste Resource Management Driver (Category C) to join their Operations team. This role plays a vital part in ensuring high-quality waste collection, street cleansing and recycling services across the local area. You will lead a small crew, drive and operate Category C vehicles, and support essential frontline environmental services that directly benefit the community.

The Role

As a Waste Resource Management Driver, you will:

  • Deliver daily waste and recycling collections to required standards, ensuring all scheduled tasks are completed safely and on time.

  • Inspect waste containers and complete any rejection or damage reports as required.

  • Carry out daily vehicle checks, cleaning, maintenance inspections and reporting of defects or incidents.

  • Ensure onboard cameras, communication systems and safety devices are operational.

  • Supervise crew members, provide instructions, maintain records and support customer liaison.

  • Undertake manual street cleansing activities including litter picking, sweeping, weeding, emptying litter bins, removing fly-tipping and supporting emergency cleansing.

  • Assist at Household Recycling Centres, helping the public dispose of waste safely and ensuring recycling is maximised.

  • Carry out bulky waste collections, deliver leaflets/stickers and complete stores deliveries as required.

  • Support alternative duties during adverse weather, such as gritting and snow clearance.

  • Ensure full compliance with health and safety requirements, traffic management rules and organisational policies.

About You

To be considered, you must have:

  • A valid C+E licence and Driver CPC Qualification Card.

  • A minimum of 2 years' experience driving with a Category C licence.

  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to work independently.

  • Basic IT skills to use internal systems.

  • Working knowledge of health and safety procedures such as manual handling and reversing assistance.

Desirable experience includes:

  • Previous work within a waste management environment.

  • Experience driving refuse collection vehicles or mechanical sweepers.

  • Knowledge of waste collection, disposal and recycling.

A driver assessment will be required prior to appointment.
