Overview

Neway International have a vacancy for an HGV Driver to join our client based with Southwark Council. Southwark Council is seeking an HGV Driver to join the Waste & Cleansing team within the Environment, Sustainability and Leisure directorate. This temporary role has been created to meet increased workload demands and will involve dustcart driving, working alongside loaders, and ensuring timely completion of waste collection rounds.

Responsibilities
  • Operate dustcarts safely and efficiently, preferably with prior local authority or waste services experience.
  • Work alongside loaders and assist with loading when required.
  • Plot and follow daily collection routes to ensure rounds are completed on time.
  • Work flexibly, including beyond contracted hours, to ensure all collections are completed.
  • Maintain strong interpersonal skills to work effectively within a small, settled team.
  • Undertake Manual Handling training (provided).
  • Support safe and compliant waste collection operations.
Requirements
  • Previous dustcart driving experience (local authority or waste services preferred).
  • CPC Driving Qualification.
