Job summary

Lanes Group is seeking a customer-focused utility operative to join our Thames Water contract, based in Crossness, Abbey Wood. You will travel in a two-person HGV crew and operate a high-pressure water jet to restore drainage networks.

This permanent full-time role offers 4 on/4 off shifts, 40.25 hours weekly, and a salary of £35,573 per year. Overtime is paid at time and a half; full training is provided and safety is a priority.

Qualifications

• Travelling to residential sites via a HGV in a two person team.
• Maintaining drainage systems and reporting on job reports.
• Willingness to work in all weather and adhere to PPE and safety protocols

Responsibilities

• Travelling to residential sites via a HGV in a two person team, powering a high-pressure water jet for restoration
• Clean, clear and maintain drainage systems
• Record each job report correctly on the specialist equipment provided
• Run diagnostics and repairs on drains
• Delivering good customer service
• Maintaining good health and safety practise while carrying out works
• Ensure vehicle stock is full and replenished
• Comply with health and safety responsibilities, i.e. PPE / safe site setups protecting Lanes Group employees, the public and other road users
• Utilise VISTEC and Salesforce platforms
• Operate JHL specification vacuum tankers and associated equipment
• Safely access vehicle cabs, sites and offices using correct procedures (e.g., three points of contact...)
• Manipulate (including loading and unloading to / from tanker pipe storage trays) flexible pipework in a safe manner utilising correct manual handling techniques
• Work unsupervised in all weather conditions, wearing correct PPE or utilising the lone worker system
• Dynamically risk assess site access and working conditions depending on specific circumstances on arrival
• Liaising with the client regarding process and any updates
• Provide support to your colleagues
• Conduct thorough inspections of tools, equipment and plant before and after use
• Report any defects or malfunctions
• Carry out risk assessments and have a mature approach to risk perception
• Be aware of all Lanes Group policies and your responsibilities towards them
• Any other reasonable ad-hoc tasks, duties or projects as requested by management
