LMD Vacuum Excavation Limited is seeking a driver operator to join our team. This role combines HGV Class 2 driving with operating vacuum excavation equipment, supporting projects across utilities, construction and infrastructure sectors nationwide.

You'll travel UK-wide, exposing underground services while minimising risk, and work with site supervisors. Prior vacuum excavation experience is an advantage but not essential; training can be provided.

Qualifications

• Valid Category C (HGV Class 2) driving licence is required.
• Driver CPC and Digital Tachograph cards required.
• Strong commitment to health and safety.
• Willingness to travel nationwide and work at different sites.

Responsabilités

• Safely drive HGV Class 2 vacuum excavation vehicles to/from sites across the UK.
• Operate vacuum excavation equipment to expose underground services safely.
• Work with site supervisors, groundworkers and utility teams.
• Follow health and safety regulations and company procedures.
• Carry out daily vehicle inspections and basic maintenance checks.

About the Role

Are you an experienced HGV Class 2 Driver looking for a new challenge, or already working in the vacuum excavation industry and ready for a fresh opportunity?

LMD Vacuum Excavation Limited is looking for dependable driver operators to join our growing team.

This is an exciting position combining HGV driving with the operation of specialist vacuum (suction) excavation equipment.

You'll travel nationwide and work on a variety of projects across the utilities, construction, highways and infrastructure sectors where no two days are the same.

Working with specialist machinery, you'll help expose underground gas, water, electricity and telecommunications services safely, protecting essential infrastructure while minimising the risk of damage and disruption.

You'll need to be reliable, safety-conscious and flexible, with a willingness to travel nationwide and work at different sites.

If you enjoy driving, working outdoors and getting stuck into practical work, this could be the role for you!

Previous vacuum excavation experience is an advantage but not essential - if you're an experienced Class 2 driver with transferable skills and a willingness to learn, we'd like to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities

• Safely drive HGV Class 2 vacuum excavation vehicles to and from sites across the UK
• Operate vacuum excavation equipment to expose underground services while minimising the risk of damage
• Work alongside site supervisors, groundworkers and utility teams
• Follow health and safety regulations, company procedures, permits, risk assessments and method statements
• Carry out daily vehicle inspections and basic maintenance checks, report defects and keep vehicles, equipment and work areas clean and safele
• Complete job sheets, vehicle records and other paperwork accurately
• Communicate professionally with customers and colleagues, representing LMD positively on every project

About You

We're looking for someone who takes pride in their work, looks out for others and understands the importance of doing the job safely and to a high standard.

• Valid Category C (HGV Class 2) driving licence
• Valid Driver CPC and Digital Tachograph cards
• Strong commitment to health and safety
• Good communication, teamwork and attention to detail
• Responsible approach to vehicle care
• Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and travel nationwide
• Flexibility for occasional night and weekend work as required

Desirable Skills and Experience

• Experience driving specialist vehicles such as tippers, tankers or grab lorries
• Experience in construction, utilities, highways or infrastructure, including working around underground services
• Knowledge of underground service avoidance and safe excavation practices
• Relevant CSCS, NPORS or CPCS cards
