Job summary

Menzies Distribution Solutions is seeking a HGV Driver with a C+E licence for night shifts in Corby. You will deliver and collect on behalf of MDS, follow H&S standards, and maintain compliance with driving regulations. The role includes long night shifts, paid breaks and on-site parking.

Candidate must meet UK driving regulations, pass assessments, and have UK geography familiarity. There are progression opportunities within a supportive logistics team.

Qualifications

• Must have a current, valid license (C+E for articulated vehicles).
• Capable of passing a company driving assessment.
• Experience loading/unloading and delivering to customer premises.
• Geographical knowledge of the UK.
• A current Digi-Tacho card and WTD knowledge.
• Must pass a company medical.

Responsibilities

• General driving duties, observing legal requirements and delivering/collecting for customers.
• Wear uniform and PPE; maintain professional standard in all interactions.
• Carry out pre-use checks and report vehicle defects or H&S issues.
• Ensure loads are safe, secured, and properly documented.
• Complete load documentation and handover PODs and deliveries.
• Adhere to hours and tachograph regulations; nights out may be required.
• Maintain vehicle cleanliness and comply with company policies.

HGV Class 1 Driver (Nights)

Menzies Distribution Solutions are looking for a HGV Driver that holds a C+E licence to join us, providing a first class service with our team in Corby. You'll undertake delivery / collection of product on behalf of Menzies Distribution Solutions Limited (‘’MDS’’) and its customers. Driving company vehicles to agreed standards and following all Health & Safety (H&S) requirements. Ensuring all driving regulations & other compliance standards are maintained. To drive safely and efficiently whilst adhering to Highway Code guidelines and the Road Traffic Act.

The Details:

• Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday Nights
• Salary: £45,465.20, £17.48 Per Hour
• Start Times: Approx. 18:00
• Length of Shift: 10-12 hours
• Hours Per Week:50 guaranteed across the week, some overtime may be required

Key Duties and Accountabilities (will include but not be limited to)

• General driving duties, observing current legal and best practice delivering and collection to/from our customer’s premises or other Menzies locations.
• Wearing correct company uniform & PPE (clean & in good repair).
• Maintaining a professional standard when representing Menzies whilst delivering, driving or collecting products.
• Carry out pre-use checks prior to using any equipment / vehicle / trailer, complying with appropriate documentation &procedures.
• Reporting of any vehicle defects / damage or H&S issues to Menzies management.
• Ensuring that vehicle loads are safe and damage free, secured with the appropriate restraints as per company procedures / Safe Systems of Work.
• Check/ complete /retain and hand over all load documentation/POD’s and delivery paperwork.
• Ensure that the returned goods process is followed at all times.
• Provide relevant feedback to management on information gathered whilst completing your duties.
• Maintain vehicle cleanliness using all equipment safely as specified in operating procedures and Safe Systems of Work.
• Comply with all EU drivers’ hours/tachograph / WTD regulations. (including GB Domestic where appropriate).
• Adhere to all H&S rules. Comply with other sites rules and maintain high standards of compliance, hygiene and housekeeping.
• Operate in accordance with Menzies’s policies and procedures.
• Nights out may be required in line with operational requirements.
• Comply with any other reasonable requests from Management.

Key Experience and Qualifications:

• Candidate must have no more than 6 points (current) on their license and no endorsements for DD / DR offence codes.
• Must have a current, valid license appropriate to the category required. (C1 for 7.5t MAM, C for rigid vehicles up to 32 MAM and C+E for articulated vehicles) (MAM maximum authorized Mass)
• Candidates with a non-GB driving license and who live in GB must provide evidence of a GB Certificate of registration, which can be obtained free from the DVLA on submission of Form D9.
• Must be capable of passing a company driving assessment.
• Must have experience of loading / unloading and delivering goods to customer premises. Experience of multi-drop deliveries desirable.
• A reasonable geographical knowledge of the UK.
• Good understanding of Drivers Hours & WTD regulations.
• A current Driver Qualification Card and preferably have accrued sufficient hours towards the next qualification period.
• Must have a current /working digi-tacho card.
• Must be able to pass a company medical.
