Job summary

Lockwood Group, a family-run business with 400+ staff, is seeking a fully qualified HGV Class 1 (C+E) driver for S&R Smith and Son, RM20 4EL. Shift pattern: Monday–Friday Days; 44 hours per week; rate £16.00 per hour.

You will handle general haulage, maintain excellent customer service, and communicate timely with the Transport team to ensure on-time deliveries. CPC, Digi card and Tachograph knowledge are essential; previous Class 1 experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Fully qualified HGV Class 1 (C+E) driver with CPC, valid Digi card, and Tachograph knowledge.
• Reliable, punctual and flexible with good verbal communication and professional customer service.
• Previous Class 1 experience preferred but not essential.

Established in 1965, the Lockwood Group is a family run business and currently has over 400 employees spanning 8 UK sites. The group’s activities include UK haulage and storage, frozen food production and co-packing solutions.

S&R Smith and Son, West Thurrock (part of the Lockwood Group of Companies) specialise in general haulage & distribution in and around the South East of England.

We are looking for drivers to be based from S&R Smith and Son, RM20 4EL.

Shift Pattern: Monday - Friday Days

Hours: 44 hours guarenteed pay per week based on a full working week. Salary range based on on target earnings, average 60 hours per week.

Hours may vary in accordance with business needs and reasonable additional hours may be required.

Rate: £16.00 per hour

Other bonuses: Early start bonus & night out allowance

Ideally the candidates would meet the following requirements:

• Candidates will be a fully qualified HGV Class 1 (C+E) driver with a CPC, valid Digi card and a good understanding of Tachograph and WTD rules.
• You will be reliable and punctual and have a flexible approach
• Good verbal communication with excellent customer service skills and a professional approach
• Previous Class 1 experience is preferred but not essential.
