Job summary

Great Bear in Banbury is hiring experienced HGV Class 1 drivers to support deliveries for key customers. This is a permanent, full-time driving role with a 24/7 operation, delivering palletised goods to Regional Distribution Centres nationwide.

Qualifications

• Valid C+E Licence.
• 6 months' HGV Class 1 driving experience preferred; new pass drivers welcome.
• No more than 6 points; no DD/DR convictions.
• Current DCPC and Tachograph cards.
• Understanding of Driver's Hours and Working Time Directive.
• Able to complete vehicle checks and report defects.
• Commitment to on-site health and safety.
• Excellent communication and professional approach.

Responsibilities

• Carry out safe, professional deliveries to customer premises.
• Complete palletised general haulage deliveries to Regional Distribution Centres; backdoor tip where possible.
• Support occasional tipping or multi-drop deliveries per demand.
• Report delays, issues or load discrepancies to Transport team at shift start.
• Complete paperwork accurately; ensure PODs signed and returned.
• Follow company rules including health, safety and hygiene standards.
• Manage working time per Road Transport Directive and tachograph rules.
• Complete daily vehicle checks and report defects.
• Take responsibility for unit and trailer; temperature checks when required.
• Maintain high standards of behaviour, appearance and customer service.

We're looking for experienced HGV Class 1 Drivers to join our Great Bear team in Banbury, supporting deliveries for key customers.

This is a fantastic opportunity to secure a permanent, full-time driving role with a 24/7 operation, delivering palletised goods to Regional Distribution Centres nationwide.

Salary available:

£15.96ph plus £1ph 4o4o Allowance & Overtime after contracted weekly hours paid at £23.93ph

Shift pattern available:

4on4off Days, 06:00 - 18:00, 34.5/46 hours per week (some weeks you will only work 3 days and other weeks 4 days)

What you'll be doing

• Carry out safe, professional deliveries to customer premises.
• Complete palletised general haulage deliveries to Regional Distribution Centres, with most deliveries completed as backdoor tip.
• Support occasional driver tipping or multi-drop deliveries depending on customer demand.
• Report to the Transport team at the start of each shift and communicate any delays, delivery issues or load discrepancies promptly.
• Complete all paperwork accurately and ensure PODs are signed and returned to the Transport Office.
• Follow company rules and procedures, including health, safety and hygiene standards.
• Manage your working time in line with the Road Transport Directive and adhere to tachograph rules and regulations.
• Complete daily vehicle checks in line with company procedure and report defects correctly.
• Take responsibility for the unit and trailer, including temperature checks where required.
• Maintain a high standard of behaviour, appearance and customer service at all times.

What we're looking for
