Job summary

Culina is recruiting for HGV Class 1 Drivers for a 4 on 4 off nights role in Portsmouth. You will operate refrigerated articulated vehicles, deliver and collect chilled stock from distribution centres and farms across the UK. Experience welcomed but training provided.

Key requirements include HGV Class 1 licence, CPC, and knowledge of drivers' hours. The role offers varied shifts with competitive hourly rates and opportunities for training and progression within Culina.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Complete paperwork accurately.

• Check temperature and manage units/trailers.
• Obtain PODs and return to Transport Office.
• Achieve fuel efficiency targets.
• Carry out other duties as required.

Job Description This role is a 4 on 4 off Nights position! Are you an experienced HGV Class 1 Driver, or newly qualified and ready to begin your driving career? We are recruiting dependable drivers to join our team in Portsmouth. Experience is welcome but not essential—we are happy to invest in drivers who have the right attitude, are willing to learn and are committed to completing the required training. In your role as a HGV Class 1 Driver, you will be operating refrigerated articulated vehicles, delivering and collecting chilled stock from Local and Regional Distribution Centres as well as Farms and Packhouses across the UK.

Shift patterns available

• 4 on 4 off Nights

Start times between 22:00 - 00:00

Pay rates

• Monday to Friday 04:00 - 20:00 - £16.91 per hour
• Monday to Friday 20:00 - 04:00 - £20.29 per hour
• Saturday 04:00 - 20:00 - £19.45 per hour
• Saturday 20:00 - 04:00 - £21.14 per hour
• Sunday and Bank Holiday 04:00 - 20:00 - £20.29 per hour
• Sunday and Bank Holiday 20:00 - 04:00 - £21.98 per hour

What you'll be doing:

• Ensure correct and thorough completion of paperwork
• Observe and adhere to company rules and procedures, including all aspects of health, safety and hygiene
• Maintain a good working knowledge of operations within the transport department
• Effectively manage own working time in line with the Road Transport Directive
• Adhere to tachograph rules and regulations at all times
• Ensure daily vehicle checks are completed in line with company procedure
• Responsible for unit and trailer, including temperature checks
• Ensure proof of deliveries (PODs) are signed and returned to the Transport Office after delivery
• Achieve and succeed fuel efficiency targets set by the business
• Any other duties as reasonably required

Qualifications

• Possession of HGV Class 1 Licence
• Current CPC
• Knowledge of Road Transport Directive and current drivers’ hours.
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to work efficiently and accurately under pressure.
• Effectively prioritise workload in order to meet set deadline
