Job summary

Jack Richards & Son Ltd in Norwich is recruiting Class 1 (C+E) drivers for day and night shifts. The role covers safe loading, securing loads, and compliant, timely deliveries across the UK. You will join a long-established haulage business with continuous training and modern fleet.

Earn circa £56,800 with bonus for Tramper roles or £49,300–£45,700 for other shifts, plus a SAFED Fuel Bonus and a company pension. Applicants must hold HGV Class 1, tachograph, and CPC.

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid HGV Class 1 (C+E) licence and UK tachograph card.
• DQC/CPC card holders preferred for compliance.
• Experience with Curtainside trailers is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Ensure vehicles comply with legal requirements and report issues to DC team.
• Ensure secure and accurate delivery of loads in your charge.
• Follow delivery instructions accurately and drive safely.
• Adhere to health and safety standards and Highway Code.

We Are Currently Looking To Hire

Class 1 (C+E) 5/6 Tramper (Monday Start Day)

Class 1 (C+E) Nights (options below)

• We will consider applications from Drivers with at least 6 months’ Commercial Class 1 (C+E) Driving experience

Preferred Experience

• Ratchet Strapping
• You must hold a valid HGV Class 1 (C+E) licence, hold a UK digital tachograph card and a full DQC (CPC card)

Role

• Ensuring vehicles comply with legal requirements, reporting issues to your DC team
• Ensure the security and accuracy of delivery of the loads in your charge
• Following delivery instructions accurately and effectively
• Drive in a safe and efficient manner
• Comply with our health and safety standards at all times, ensuring adherence to The Highway Code, road safety rules and vehicle regulations

Dedicated Fleet

• 5/6 Tramper (Mon Start Day): c. £56,800 + Bonus

General Haulage Fleet

• 5/6 Nights (Mon Start Day): c. £49,300 + Bonus
• Mon to Fri Nights: c. £45,700 + Bonus

Bonus

• SAFED Fuel Bonus (max c. £1,000 p.a.)

Gross Earnings Figure Includes

• Enhanced Rates after 10 hours
• Trampers: £26.20 per Night Out (Tax Free)
• up to £5 / £10 per Day Meal Allowance (Tax Free)
