Job summary

Driver Hire Bury St Edmunds & Ipswich is recruiting an HGV ADR Tanker Driver for a seasonal contract running September 2026 to May 2027 in the Bury St Edmunds area. You’ll deliver gas safely to residential and commercial premises, on a 5-on-2-off rota with day or night starts.

A full UK manual licence (Cat C or C+E), Digital Tachograph Card and Driver CPC are required. ADR Tankers experience is essential; ADR training is provided if needed.

Qualifications

• Seasonal contract Sep 2026 to May 2027.
• Requires full UK manual licence Cat C or Cat C+E.
• Tanker driving experience essential; ADR qualification training available.
• No more than 6 penalty points; no DG, DD or IN endorsements.
• ADR in Tanks preferred but not essential.

• Shifts on a 5-on-2-off rota with various patterns; day and night starts available.
• This is a seasonal contract with potential bonuses during the period.

Pay: £18.29 - £36.58 per hour
Contract: Temporary to Permanent

What you'll be doing

You'll be driving an HGV tanker to deliver gas safely to residential and commercial premises.

Shifts are on 5-on-2-off rota with various patterns available.

Day shifts available on 6am - 7am.

Night shifts are also available on 5pm - 6pm starts.

This is a seasonal contract running from September 2026 to May 2027, with the opportunity to earn bonuses of up to £2,000 during the contract period.

Tanker driving experience is essential, but an ADR qualification isn't. If you've got the tanker experience but don't currently hold ADR in Tanks, we can provide the training you need.

What we're looking for

• A full UK manual driving licence with Cat C or Cat C+E entitlement.
• A current Digital Tachograph Card and Driver CPC.
• Previous tanker driving experience (essential).
• ADR in Tanks (Category 2) is preferred but not essential.
• No more than 6 effective penalty points.
• No DG, DD or IN endorsements.

The role is commutable from Stowmarket, Ipswich, Thetford, Cambridge, Newmarket and surrounding areas.
