Job summary

Farcroft Restorations is seeking experienced Heritage Carpenters and Architectural Joiners to join a major restoration project in Wiltshire. The role is full-time, Mon-Fri, with a 12-month contract and options for employed or self-employed engagement, with an immediate start.

You will work in a skilled site team delivering high-quality heritage carpentry, repairing and fabricating historic timber features, following drawings and specifications.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Heritage Carpenter, Architectural Joiner or skilled Site Joiner.
• Experience working on historic, listed or high-specification buildings.
• Strong knowledge of traditional carpentry and joinery techniques.
• Experience repairing and replicating period timber features.
• Able to interpret drawings, specifications and detailed measurements.
• Confident using relevant hand tools and woodworking equipment.
• Excellent attention to detail and a high standard of workmanship.
• Able to work independently and as part of a site team.
• Reliable, professional and committed to the full contract.
• Available to begin work immediately or at short notice.
• A valid CSCS card is essential.
• Asbestos Awareness and Manual Handling certification is required; these courses can be completed online before starting
• A relevant City & Guilds, NVQ or equivalent trade qualification would be beneficial

• Assessing whether historic timber can be repaired rather than replaced
• Using hand tools and woodworking equipment safely and effectively
• Ensuring all work is completed to an exceptionally high standard
• Working closely with site managers, other trades and conservation specialists
• Following all site health and safety procedures
• Maintaining a clean, organised and professional working environment

This is an excellent 12-month opportunity for skilled craftspeople with experience working on historic, listed or architecturally significant buildings. Both employed and self-employed applicants will be considered, with an immediate start available.

Established in 1968, Farcroft Restorations is one of the UK’s leading building and contents restoration specialists. Its skilled teams work on some of the country’s finest buildings, carefully preserving and restoring them to exacting standards.

Role Overview

You will work as part of an experienced site team, carrying out high-quality heritage carpentry and architectural joinery on a significant restoration project.

The work requires accuracy, patience and a genuine understanding of traditional craftsmanship. You must be confident working with existing building fabric and completing repairs and new joinery that remain sympathetic to the character of the property.
