Qualifications

  • General understanding of plant biology, preferably with insights into weed control and agronomy.
  • Entry-level knowledge of laboratory techniques and proficiency in Microsoft Office programmes.
  • Strong analytical, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Attention to detail, excellent communication abilities, and a proactive approach to problem‑solving.
  • Agility in learning new tasks and the ability to manage time effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Spraying, maintaining, and assessing plants in the glasshouse to ensure timely, high-quality biological data.
  • Conducting herbicide bioassays using both established and novel screening methods.
  • Maintaining plants under glasshouse conditions and disposing of plant materials post-testing.
  • Accurately assessing plants for herbicidal symptoms and activity.
  • Collaborating with the PPS screening operations team.
  • Keeping meticulous records and ensuring databases are up-to-date.
  • Identifying and reporting any issues or non-conformities that arise during work.
  • Training others in daily tasks to enhance team efficiency.
