A leading technical support service provider is seeking a Help Desk Support Specialist in West Bath, ME. The role entails providing in-person and remote technical support within courtrooms, troubleshooting various technology, and managing audio and video equipment. Job Title: Help Desk Support Specialist

Work Location: West Bath, ME 04530
Work Mode: 100% Onsite & Travel
Duration: 6 Months Contract with Possible Extension
Rate: $27.22/Hour on W2

Job Description

The Courtroom Technician (CT) position is a technical support professional who works with a team of IT specialists in assisting with technology in the courtroom including supporting desktop and laptop computers, office productivity software, audio/video equipment, remote hearings, and general technology for Judicial Branch employees as well as courtroom attendees as required by court proceedings. The CT is primarily responsible for direct technical support in courtrooms and courthouses, and may include other Judicial Branch facilities, offices, and judge chambers in Maine. Even though the CT is an entry level position, the CT must be able to learn to work independently and must be capable of directing escalated problems to the appropriate resources. The CT requires excellent customer service skills and strong communication skills. Response to emergency calls during off hours is required. On the job training will be performed by other state staff as well as may be supplemented by classroom and/or electronic trainings. All training will be approved by the Manager of Technology & Infrastructure. Most duties will be at the CT home base courthouse however regional travel may be frequently requested. Statewide travel is also possible.

Job Duties
  • Provides in-person and remote technical support for staff and courtroom participants
  • Supports desktops, laptops, printers, scanners, and presentation software
  • Sets up and troubleshoots audio, video, document cameras, and listening equipment
  • Supports VOIP desk phones and hosts remote video proceedings as needed
  • Diagnoses and resolves Tier 1 technical issues and help desk tickets
  • Installs, repairs, and replaces courtroom and office technology statewide
  • Supports electronic recording hardware and software
  • Ensures secure and reliable operation of information systems
  • Maintains hardware inventory and equipment records
  • Assists with technical planning, procedures, work orders, and vendor coordination
  • Provides IT training to individuals and groups
  • Supports and learns multiple platforms (Windows, macOS, Zoom, Google, iOS, Android, Unix)
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Basic working knowledge of audio equipment
  • Experience supporting staff computers and devices across multiple platforms
  • Ability to work effectively in high-stress environments
  • Valid driver's license required
  • Strong ability to explain technical concepts in layman's terms
  • Ability to learn, retain, and apply technical training
  • Proven skills in planning, prioritizing, and managing competing tasks

Note: This position is 100% onsite and open to local candidates only. The role requires regular travel between court locations, and candidates must be able to use their personal vehicle for work-related travel. Mileage reimbursement will be provided in accordance with company policy.
