Job summary

Aira is seeking a Heating System Design Engineer to design high quality air source heat pump installations for domestic properties. You will perform site surveys, collect data, and generate heat loss calculations to determine emitter output requirements.

You will stay current with heat pump guidelines, regulations, and MCS standards, communicating with customers about proposals and any price changes, and ensuring a smooth installation process.

Qualifications

  • Have the necessary qualifications, training, and experience to design high quality air source heat pump installations for domestic properties.
  • Qualifications in System design such as Heat Geek Heating Mastery and related certifications.
  • Knowledge of heat pump installations, building regulations, and MCS requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Design high quality air source heat pump installations for domestic properties.
  • Gather information from quotes, properties and survey data to generate heat loss calculations and emitter output requirements.
  • Find solutions to technical issues to ensure installations go ahead.
  • Keep up to date with manufacturer's guidance and regulatory changes including heat pumps and low carbon heating.

About the role as Heating System Design Engineer at Aira

The survey/design visit is a key aspect of the customer journey to ensure an installation goes ahead as planned, and as the customer expects. You will find solutions to problems, ensure the project works in the interests of both the customer and Aira, and provide excellent customer service along the way. You will have the technical expertise to offer additional products and services we may offer in the interests of the customer.

What you’ll be doing as Heating System Design Engineer at Aira
  • Have the necessary qualifications, training, and experience to design high quality air source heat pump installations for domestic properties.
  • Gather information from the quote, property and your survey data to generate an accurate heat loss calculation and emitter output requirements
  • Find solutions to any technical issues where possible to ensure an installation can still go ahead
  • Report any issues which may affect installation to your line manager from the customers property.
  • Keep up to date with all manufacturer's guidance, and any legislative changes including but not limited to heat pumps, low carbon heating, clean energy, and building regulations.
  • Operate within required Aira's efficiency guidelines as well as MCS etc.
What might a day look like?
  • Attend customer properties in your designated area
  • Conduct a site survey and collect data relevant to the installation requirements
  • Carry out a room by room heat loss assessment
  • Determine which radiators need to be replaced, and communicate this with your customer
  • Answer any technical queries the customer may have
  • Communicate any price changes with the customer and explain the reason for these
  • Obtain approval from the customer for your proposal to go ahead
  • Create a list of materials required for the installation to be carried out

  • You'll need to have the necessary qualifications, training, and experience to design high quality air source heat pump installations for domestic properties.

  • Qualifications in System design such as Heat Geek Heating Mastery
  • Level 3 Award in installation and maintenance of air source heat pump systems
  • Water regulations certificate (WRAS) course
  • Level 2 / 3 Award in plumbing
  • Level 3 Award Low temperature heating and hot water systems in dwellings
