Job summary

A leading heating services company in Essex is looking for an experienced gas/oil engineer. Responsibilities include installing and servicing boilers, with potential training provided for oil systems. Candidates must possess a Gas Safe Registration, strong customer service skills, and have at least 3 years of experience in the field. This position requires a full clean UK driving licence and a commitment to working with vulnerable populations. This is not a remote working position.

Overview

We have a permanent position looking for an experienced gas / oil engineer to carry out boiler installs and associated plumbing, service gas / oil boilers (training can be provided for the oil side), fault-finding and repairs within domestic and commercial properties. They will also be required to work at schools, adult homes and with vulnerable people – hence the availability for the Enhanced DBS (disclosure Barring Service) check. This is suitable for someone that has previously been self-employed and is now looking for a permanent role and a career with the company. This is not a working from home / starting from home role.

Responsibilities

• Carry out boiler installations and associated plumbing
• Service gas / oil boilers (training can be provided for the oil side)
• Fault-finding and repairs within domestic and commercial properties
• Work at schools, adult homes and with vulnerable people; obtain Enhanced DBS check when required
• Survey for new boiler installations and associated plumbing

Qualifications & Requirements

• First class face-to-face customer service and communication skills
• Good literacy and numeracy
• Able to complete invoicing and all associated paperwork, forms etc.
• Able to survey for new boiler installations and associated plumbing (Essential)
• Able to work unsupervised and manage your own workload
• Current Gas Safe Registration (Essential)
• Gas Safe Card & ACS (Essential)
• OFTEC Registration (Optional)
• 3+ years experience as a qualified gas/oil engineer (Essential)
• 3+ years experience installing, servicing & gas and oil boilers as well as strong fault-finding / diagnostic experience (Essential)
• NVQ/City & Guilds plumbing qualifications (or equivalent)
• Fault finding and repairs on boilers & central heating systems
• Able to have an Enhanced DBS check (once employed - company pays for this)
• Full clean UK driving licence – held for a minimum of 2 years (essential)
• We will provide the training for any OFTEC qualifications for the right candidate – but must have good fault-finding / troubleshooting skills already on boiler and central heating systems & controls
