Job description

The Healthy Start Coordinator is responsible, with the support of the Infant Feeding Coordinator, for the maintenance and development of the existing Healthy Start scheme in Islington.

This involves working with local statutory, private and voluntary providers and service users to develop and promote practice that is accessible and responsive to all sections of the community, ensuring that services reach the most vulnerable groups and individuals to support social inclusion.

Main duties of the job

To act as the main point of contact for all queries from staff regarding Healthy Start, dealing with these in a timely, sensitive and appropriate manner.

To deal with barriers to effective communications and be flexible in using alternative methods.

To communicate with colleagues, other staff and families in a respectful and helpful manner.

To support the development of well-functioning integrated team by modelling effective team working and communication skills, and by supporting change within the service.

To work with the Infant Feeding Team to continue to develop effective working relationships with other Islington services to increase wider understanding and support of Healthy Start, e.g. GPs, dietitians, maternity services and other frontline staff.

About us

Whittington Health serves a richly diverse population and works hard to ensure that all our services are fair and equally accessible to everyone. Nowhere is this more obvious than in the way we look after our staff. We aim to employ a workforce which is as representative as possible of this population, so we are open to the value of differences in age, disability, gender, marital status, pregnancy and maternity, race, sexual orientation, and religion or belief. The Trust believes that as a public sector organisation we have an obligation to have recruitment, training, promotion and other formal employment policies and procedures that are sensitive to these differences. We think that by doing so, we are better able to treat our patients as well as being a better place to work.

Job responsibilities

To order and distribute Healthy Start vitamins, ensuring that an adequate supply of Healthy Start vitamins is available in all distribution centres at all times.

To use the Trust Procurement system effectively to make requisitions, such as stationery, office supplies and promotional materials, as required to maintain appropriate stocks.

To work with the Infant Feeding Team to continue to develop effective working relationships with other Islington services to increase wider understanding and support of Healthy Start, e.g. GPs, dietitians, maternity services and other frontline staff.

To escalate any concerns or difficulties to the Infant Feeding Team in a timely and appropriate way to enable effective resolution.
