Main duties of the job

As a key member of the Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, you will work across acute hospitals, community settings and theatre teams. You will:

  • Support patient care in wards, operating theatres and community hospitals.
  • Assist with personal care and nursing procedures under supervision.
  • Manage patient documentation and equipment preparation.
  • Work within inter‑professional teams to deliver safe, timely care.
Job responsibilities

No previous experience or qualifications are required, just a desire to deliver excellent patient care with guidance from your colleagues. Through comprehensive training you will gain the necessary experience and progress along the salary scale. If you have related experience you may start higher on the scale and receive further development opportunities.

Recruitment is for both fixed‑term and substantive positions, minimum 15 hours per week up to 37.5 hours per week. Full flexibility with days/shifts is required; otherwise the role will not be considered.

Working patterns

We require coverage around the clock, including short shifts, day shifts (7:30 – 20:00), and 12.5‑hour day and night shifts with a break. Attend interviews in September. Shift patterns will be confirmed at interview.

Working locations

Positions are available across Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital, community hospitals and in East and West Devon services. Northern Services applications are accepted via the provided link.
