Job summary

Optegra Eye Healthcare’s Manchester hospital is seeking an experienced Healthcare Technician or HCA (Band 3) with ward or theatre experience, ideally in Ophthalmology. This part-time role offers funded training and development programs across a supportive team.

Join a forward-looking private hospital, working in a multidisciplinary setting to deliver high-quality patient care and diagnostic testing, with 19 hours across two days (Mon-Sat).

Qualifications

• Experience in healthcare environnement or ophthalmic sector.
• Highly organised with clear forward planning and ability to flex according to patients’ needs.
• Attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Hold accountability for delivering high quality patient care during visits.
• Work with clinical and patient services staff to ensure smooth running of operating lists.
• Perform diagnostic testing in clinic (Biometry, OCT, AScan, Visual fields, Pentacam, VA, IOP, Topography).
• Support patients on surgery days and communicate effectively.
• Handle patient enquiries and refer to a medical practioner when needed.
• Provide health promotion advice, particularly about ophthalmic surgery.
• Deliver pre and postoperative care within competence.

Optegra has an exciting new job opportunity for an experienced Healthcare Technician or HCA (Band 3) with ward or theatre experience, ideally gained in Ophthalmology, to join our amazing and supportive team in our prestige private Manchester Hospital. This is a great opportunity to join an ambitious and forward-thinking business and benefit from our fantastic fully funded training and development programs. This is part-time hours of 19h per week across 2 days Mon-Sat.

Main duties of the job

As part of a multi-disciplinary team with an emphasis on quality patient care, ensure a comprehensive level of care provision to all ophthalmic patients, their relatives, or carers, across clinical and some administrative disciplines.

Work alongside other clinical team members and optometrists for outpatient consultations and pre assessment of patients.

Job responsibilities

• -Hold accountability for the delivery of high quality patient care throughout their visit to Optegra.

• - Completing diagnostic testing on patients in clinic, including Biometry, OCT, AScan, Visual fields, Pentacam, VA, IOP, Topography.
• - Actively support and assist patients on surgery days ensuring effective communication.
• - Handling patient enquiries effectively, by means of referral to a medical practitioner if necessary and providing service excellence.
• - Provide basic advice on health promotion, with particular reference to ophthalmic surgery.
• - Provide pre and postoperative care, within level of competence, to patients.
