This post is being advertised as a Band 3; applicants who do not meet the required care certificate competencies will initially be employed as a Band 2. Applicants who hold a care certificate accreditation will start in post at Band 3. The role is an integral part of the wards and departmental teams, with a focus on delivering first class care to patients.

Responsibilities
  • Work under the supervision and direction of a registered health care professional, providing dignified, compassionate, and safe care for patients and ensuring high standards of documentation are maintained.
  • To undertake duties listed for the role; duties may vary and could include working with children, young people, and older adults, with training or induction in accordance with trust policies.
  • Be an effective team member and contribute to a caring, compassionate, and inclusive environment.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • No previous experience is necessary as training is provided; we offer a bespoke full induction and support through the care certificate and beyond, with mentors on the wards.
  • Must complete numeracy and literacy assessment as part of the selection process, alongside an interview.
  • Current base location: Royal Bournemouth Hospital. The Orthopaedic Outpatients Department is due to move to Poole Hospital in spring/summer 2026.
  • Eligible for full-time or part-time hours; minimum 19 hours per week; full-time and part-time patterns available; Monday to Friday 8:00 – 18:00 (note: no bank holidays or weekends currently listed).
  • Fully flexible across all shift patterns.
  • PLEASE NOTE: Sponsorship cannot be offered for this role.
Additional Information
  • As part of the selection process, you will be required to complete a numeracy and literacy assessment alongside an interview.
  • Current base location: Royal Bournemouth Hospital. The Orthopaedic Outpatients Department is moving to Poole Hospital in spring/summer 2026.
  • There is a planned move for this service anticipated during Summer 2026; the role and base may relocate to Poole Hospital. Employees will not be eligible for excess mileage reimbursement for relocation; travel from home to the new base will be considered a normal commute.
