Healthcare Support Worker

Please note: In line with recent UK Government guidelines, please be aware that from April 2025, the minimum salary threshold for Skilled Worker Visas, including Health & Care Visa Route, has increased to £25,000 per year.

This applies to roles paid in accordance with NHS pay bands, meaning entry level Band 3 positions no longer meet the criteria for sponsorship.

Main duties of the job

There are numerous vacancies for Health Care Assistants across our Woodview and Pendleview sites.

These vacancies are based across our male and female treatment wards, including PICU and our 136 suite.

The post holder will be required to use their initiative when working on the wards/136 suite to implement person centred plans of care and are expected to report any clinical progress or change to the Nurse in Charge.

The post holder will carry out assigned tasks involving direct/indirect service user care and support service users under the supervision of a RN.

Job responsibilities

Person Specification
Qualification
  • NVQ Level III or Higher in Health and Social Care or QCF Diploma in Health and Social Care or an interest in completing the above training or can demonstrate the equivalent skills and knowledge gained through work.
Knowledge
  • Demonstrates an understanding of the issues surrounding mental illness and person centred recovery
  • Understands their duties and responsibilities under the Data Protection Act with regard to patient confidentiality
Experience
  • Experience of working with service users with mental health problems - for example working in a caring environment such as a nursing home, care home, hospital ward, home carer
  • Can communicate effectively with a wide range of people which includes patients, carers, nurses, Occupational therapists, Managers, doctors, etc
  • Experience in an inpatient setting
