Job Summary

This post is for a Healthcare Support Worker within the X-ray and DXA team at Dewsbury and District Hospital.

The working pattern is on a rotation basis, mainly evenings (17:00–23:00) or weekends (8:30–16:00 or 16:00–23:00). An example shift schedule is:

  • Saturday – 17:00–23:00
  • Sunday – 17:00–23:00
  • Monday – 17:00–23:00
  • Tuesday – 17:00–23:00
  • Wednesday – 17:00–23:00
  • Thursday – 7‑days off
  • Friday – 17:00–23:00
  • Saturday – 17:00–23:00
  • Sunday – 8:30–16:00 or 16:00–23:00
  • Monday – 8:30–16:00 or 16:00–23:00
  • Tuesday – 7‑days off
  • Saturday – 17:00–23:00

There is often the opportunity to pick up additional shifts.

Main duties of the job

Work under the direction of a registrant radiographer and participate fully in the delivery of planned or acute care for patients attending the radiology service. Provide general support in the X‑ray and DXA team, including:

  • 1‑to‑1 patient‑centred care
  • Assisting patients with changing
  • General cleaning and tidying of the department
  • Supporting patients through their examinations
  • Performing some administrative and clerical tasks
