Job description
Position Overview

Brant Ward is an 18‑bedded inpatient mental health ward supporting older adults, 65 and over, who present with mental illness. We need someone who has the flexibility to work shift patterns across 24 hours a day, 7 days per week in a very busy inpatient environment, with each day being varied and at times challenging, but above all, extremely rewarding.

We are currently engaged with the Culture of Care Programme as we seek to develop and transform mental health services, providing staff with involvement in Quality Improvement projects.

Due to the UKVI immigration changes, we are no longer able to offer sponsorship for this role. Please provide details of the visa type and expiry date in your application. Failure to provide the required information will result in your application being rejected.

Responsibilities
  • Promote equality for all patients, understand their health needs, and carry out physical health checks when necessary.
  • Demonstrate an awareness of service user and carer perspectives on the provision of treatments.
  • Support activities, recreational/physical, one‑to‑one and group interventions, in the provision of health and social care.
  • Assist in general and specific observations under the supervision of registered staff.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the responsibilities in relation to patients' property and valuables.
  • Always act in a manner that promotes and safeguards the interests and well‑being of patients.
  • Demonstrate a caring attitude and treat all patients with dignity and respect, ensuring that no patient is the subject of any form of abuse.
  • Work with service users to promote independence, maximising daily living skills.
  • Participate in the escorting of patients as per the unit procedures.
  • Work within policies, protocols, and clinical procedures of the Trust.
  • Ensure accurate record keeping in accordance with these policies and correct countersigning, where required.
  • Participate regularly in clinical and managerial supervision sessions and performance reviews. And attend in‑service training/refresher days.
  • Work flexibly to meet the needs of service delivery.
