A leading NHS Trust in Guildford is seeking an experienced healthcare professional to manage the Fountain Centre. The role involves leading day-to-day operations, overseeing staff, and ensuring high-quality support for cancer patients. Ideal candidates will have significant experience in cancer or palliative care, strong leadership skills, and an interest in holistic care. This is a Band 8a role with support available for development from Band 7.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a suitably experienced healthcare professional to lead the day-to-day operations of the Fountain Centre and further develop our complementary therapy and wellbeing services. The Fountain Centre is an independent charity based in the Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust, providing information, emotional support and complementary therapies to people affected by cancer across the local community. This post is central to the Fountain Centre's integrative oncology service. The post holder will provide leadership and operational management for our complementary therapy and wellbeing provision, ensuring safe, high-quality, and person-centred support for people living with and beyond cancer, and for those close to them. You will oversee the services run from the Fountain Centre, including coordinating the daily programme, managing and supporting staff and volunteers, and ensuring robust governance, data collection and reporting. You will also deliver direct clinical work, including triage and supportive conversations with patients and family members, helping them to navigate the psychological, emotional and practical impact of a cancer diagnosis and treatment.
The Fountain Centre is an independent charity based within the Royal Surrey Cancer Centre at the Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust (RSFT). It provides a caring and supportive environment for people affected by cancer. The Centre is developing an integrative cancer care model which is a patient-centred, evidence informed approach that uses lifestyle factors, mind-body practices and complementary therapies, alongside conventional cancer treatment. The charity also offers signposting and a benefits service. The main purpose of this role is to manage the operation of the Fountain Centre at the Royal Surrey Cancer Centre (FC) and the day-to-day services it offers, to ensure the effective and professional delivery of information and services to Cancer Patients and their Carers in compliance with all NHS regulations and Governance requirements. To maintain the currency of standards, skills and qualifications of all staff, therapists and volunteers to ensure the best use of resources (staff, finance and space) in providing appropriate therapies and support to cancer patients to enhance their health, wellbeing and quality of life, during and after cancer treatment.
The main role of this position is to manage all activities, operations, governance and performance of the services that operate on a daily basis at the Fountain Centre, the health and wellbeing hub, creative arts room, oncology wards and online. To ensure patients have timely access to support and appropriate information. The post holder will manage the administrator, coordinator/navigator, therapy staff and a large team of volunteers and will be responsible for the coordinated delivery of the centre's day-to-day management ensuring that there is an appropriate level of clinical expertise at all times. The post holder will work closely and collaboratively with other Fountain Centre service leads, the Royal Surrey Cancer Centre multidisciplinary teams, and wider partners to ensure our services are well integrated, inclusive and responsive to patient need.
The role will demand a high level of flexibility, emotional resilience and the ability to work within a highly challenging field. The post holder must be able to work independently, be self-motivated and have an excellent understanding of cancer care and support services.
