Job summary

Maximus is seeking a Nurse Functional Assessor to perform assessments across physical and mental health conditions, helping customers move forward with their lives. The role includes a 6-week training programme, ongoing supervision and flexible working options.

You will conduct tele, video or in-person reviews, produce WCA reports for DWP, and continuously develop clinical knowledge with feedback. A supportive environment aims to enhance professional growth and impact lives.

Qualifications

• Valid NMC registration is required.
• Minimum 1 year post-registration experience in adult or mental health.
• Must have the right to work in the UK – no sponsorship offered.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Complaints and enquiries can come from customers, representatives (including welfare rights groups & MPs), as well as DWP. Part of the role is also to provide outcomes and feedback on all complaints about healthcare professionals that is used as part of professional development and improvement in addition to being utilised to make overall business improvements.

About the role

As a Nurse Functional Assessor at Maximus, you'll use your clinical expertise to understand how a person's disability or health condition affects their daily life. You’ll work on complex cases involving physical and mental health conditions and chronic pain disorders, while your compassion and experience helps customers move forward with their lives.

The role can be both challenging and rewarding, which is why we offer a tailored training programme to help you thrive. You'll begin with 6 weeks of training before assessing customers and have ongoing support and mentorship in your role with us.

Duties and responsibilities

• Conduct telephone, video or face-to-face assessments to understand how a person's disability or health condition affects their daily life
• Produce Work Capability Assessment (WCA) reports to help the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) determine a person’s eligibility for benefits
• Develop your clinical knowledge and assessment skills with the support of regular feedback and supervision

Requirements

• Valid NMC registration number
• At least 1 year of broad post-registration adult or mental health experience gained within or outside of the NHS
• You MUST have the right to work in the UK – we cannot offer sponsorships
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Comfortable using computer software to type and produce detailed reports
