Job summary

Cardiff and Vale University Health Board is seeking a Mechanical Project & Compliance Engineer to lead a team of mechanical engineers in discretionary capital schemes and to manage estates statutory plant and equipment. The role requires expert advisory capabilities on mechanical design standards, regulatory compliance, and construction methods in a healthcare setting.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical/Building Services engineering or equivalent experience.
• Master's degree or equivalent experience.
• Working toward chartered status with a recognised institution.
• Membership of CIBSE or equivalent professional body.
• Experience in a senior design role or healthcare estates related engineering role.
• Significant healthcare sector experience and delivery of capital projects.
• Good knowledge of construction industry practices and project delivery.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the mechanical engineering team for capital schemes from brief to handover.
• Provide specialist leadership on mechanical design standards, technical requirements and construction methods.
• Act as Health Board Specialist Lead Advisor for mechanical issues on capital schemes.
• Prepare detailed designs and works specifications for mechanical schemes.
• Recruit and manage Band 6 Design/Compliance staff and monitor performance.
• Coordinate planning approvals with Local Authorities and other agencies.
• Oversee procurement, payments and compliance with financial instructions.
• Produce complex project reports and technical reports including project plans.
