Job summary

A regional healthcare provider in York is looking for Healthcare Assistants to join their team on Ebor Ward. Job summary

Ebor ward is an 18 bedded female acute ward, providing care and treatment for those that reside in the York, Selby, and North Yorkshire area.

About this role

An opportunity has arisen to become part of the Ebor Multidisciplinary team, working alongside nurses, medics, psychologists, occupational therapists, pharmacists and other professionals to provide holistic care to those experiencing acute crisis in an inpatient setting.

Our Healthcare Assistants work to support the Nursing and Medical team and should be able to provide meaningful 1:1 engagements with our patient group, recognise and de‑escalate distress, and raise concerns to the nursing and medical team.

Successful candidates will be expected to communicate clearly and work as part of a dynamic and diverse team.

You must have the Right to Work in the UK. This role does not meet the eligibility criteria for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker visa, so the Trust is unable to offer sponsorship.

Responsibilities
  • Empower and support patients to aid their recovery and equip them with skills needed to live independently.
  • Provide meaningful 1:1 engagement with patients.
  • Recognise and de‑escalate distress.
  • Escalate concerns to the nursing and medical team.
  • Support the Nursing and Medical team in day‑to‑day care.
Qualifications – Essential
  • Diploma in Health and Social Care Level 2 (or equivalent).
  • Care Certificate.
  • Key skills in Literacy and Numeracy Level 2.
  • Successful completion of Trust's full HCA Framework within six months of probation.
  • For trainee posts: Diploma and Care Certificate achievements within specified timescales.
Skills – Essential
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Time management and ability to prioritise effectively.
  • Competency in record keeping within agreed timescales.
  • Approved techniques in physical intervention within agreed timescales.
Skills – Desirable
  • Competency in ECG and venepuncture.
Experience – Essential
  • Previous experience as a Band 2/3 HCA or equivalent in a care environment.
  • (Trainee post: no essential experience required)
Experience – Desirable
  • Experience working with people with mental/social health needs.

Salary: £24,937 to £26,598 a year pro rata
