Job description

At Prospect@Home, we support people with life-limiting illnesses to remain where they feel most comfortable – at home. Our team provides expert, compassionate care that places each person and their family at the heart of everything we do.

As a Healthcare Assistant, you’ll join a close, values-led team that delivers personal, responsive care with warmth, dignity and respect. Whether supporting with physical needs or offering emotional reassurance, your presence will bring comfort at life’s most important time.

Hours: Full-time and Part-time positions available

The role will be a combination of days and nights. Night service hours are from 19:00 to 07:00 and long days from 07:00 to 19:00 (some flexibility around working split shifts in the day can be considered)

What is the role?

In this rewarding, community-based role, you’ll deliver high-quality end-of-life care and emotional support to patients in their homes, providing both planned and responsive personal care. Your responsibilities include:

  • Responding promptly to changing patient needs
  • Communicating sensitively with patients and families, including support after death
  • Assisting patients with self-administering oral medications (as required)
  • Following infection prevention protocols and ensuring a safe, respectful environment
  • Working independently across the local area, while being supported by an experienced team
  • Flexibility to occasionally work shifts on the inpatient unit to ensure continuity of care and maintain links across teams

The role requires independent, adaptable, and reliable working, with the ability to prioritise your workload effectively. Experience with patients facing long-term conditions or end-of-life care is an advantage but not essential.

For more information or to have a chat about the roles on offer please contact Debbie Robson, Prospect@Home Team Leader on 07779 244781.

Interviews will be held on Friday 6 June 2025
Do you have?
  • Minimum Level 2 in Health and Social Care/Care Certificate
  • Relevant healthcare assistant experience
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • A good awareness of your own limitations, and able to recognise the need for onward referral when needed
  • A driving license and access to a car, prepared to travel throughout our defined catchment area (Swindon, Marlborough, Pewsey, Wootton Bassett, Lechlade, Fairford and Shrivenham).

It would also be great if you have:

  • Level 3 in Health and Social Care
  • End of life care experience

We value empathy, adaptability, and a calm, supportive presence – someone who can make a difficult time more manageable for patients and families.

“Working for Prospect@Home is fulfilling, you are part of a team that ‘cares & respects’ everyone. You feel valued & appreciated. You always receive support from every colleague, nothing is too much.
