Job summary

Priory Hospital Kemple View in Blackburn is seeking a Healthcare Assistant to join our compassionate team. The role involves assisting qualified staff with patient care plans, supporting wellbeing, and maintaining dignity in a 90-bed facility offering level 2 rehabilitation and secure services for adult males with mental health conditions.

You will work under supervision, helping with personal care, monitoring wellbeing, and contributing to a safe ward environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum NVQ Level 1 or GCSEs in Maths and English.
• Good communication, listening and observational skills.
• Understanding of confidentiality and the importance of maintaining accurate records.
• Basic IT literacy and the ability to follow care plans and procedures.
• A caring, compassionate approach with a commitment to safeguarding and promoting patients’ dignity and wellbeing.

Responsibilities

• Support Registered Nurses in delivering individualised patient care, following care plans and promoting patients’ wellbeing and dignity.
• Assist patients with personal care including washing, dressing and toileting while maintaining privacy and dignity.
• Monitor patients’ physical, mental and emotional wellbeing, reporting concerns or changes to the nursing team and maintaining accurate records.
• Carry out delegated patient interventions including observation and engagement, escorting patients on leave, and supporting de-escalation after training.
• Work with the multidisciplinary team to maintain a safe, clean and supportive ward environment, following infection control and safeguarding procedures.
