Job Summary

Are you a compassionate and motivated individual looking to make a real difference in patient care? We are seeking a dedicated Healthcare Assistant to join our friendly team on Florence Nightingale Ward at Basildon Hospital.

In this rewarding role, you'll work closely with our multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality, patient-centred care under the supervision of registered nurses. You'll play a key part in supporting patients throughout their hospital journey, ensuring comfort, dignity, and safety at all times.

Main Duties of the Job
  • Provide pressure area care, recognising and reporting abnormal skin conditions.
  • Assess and escalating pain concerns, and support patients receiving end-of-life care.
  • Assist during clinical procedures, prepare equipment for aseptic techniques, carry out simple wound dressings, record ECGs, and help orient patients to the ward environment.
  • Maintain the smooth running of the ward, work collaboratively with colleagues, and consistently demonstrate Trust values: Excellent, Compassionate, Respectful.
  • Demonstrate a courteous and helpful approach to patients, relatives and visitors.
  • Carry out assigned clerical tasks as directed by a registered nurse.
  • Promote the corporate image of Mid and South Essex NHS FT to all individuals, groups and organisations.
  • Participate fully as a team member, sharing knowledge and information and supporting colleagues.
  • Report untoward incidents and any other relevant information to a registered nurse immediately.
  • Inform a registered nurse if requested to carry out a task beyond training or capacity.
  • Attend to the personal needs of patients/clients, encouraging self-care, maintaining privacy and dignity, and addressing cultural and spiritual needs.
