Role Overview

In this rewarding role, you'll work closely with our multidisciplinary team to deliver high‑quality, patient‑centred care under the supervision of registered nurses. You'll play a key part in supporting patients throughout their hospital journey, ensuring comfort, dignity, and safety at all times.

Your responsibilities will include providing pressure area care, recognising and reporting abnormal skin conditions, assessing and escalating pain concerns, and supporting patients receiving end‑of‑life care. You will also assist during clinical procedures, prepare equipment for aseptic techniques, carry out simple wound dressings, record ECGs, and help orient patients to the ward environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate a courteous and helpful approach to patients, relatives and visitors in the clinical area.
  • Carry out assigned clerical tasks as directed by a registered nurse.
  • Promote the corporate image of Mid and South Essex NHS FT to all individuals, groups, and organizations, both within the Trust and externally to the community at large.
  • Participate fully as a team member, sharing knowledge and information and supporting colleagues, to promote a cohesive ward team and the achievement of team objectives.
  • Report untoward incidents and any other relevant information to a registered nurse immediately.
  • Inform a registered nurse if asked to carry out a task which the individual does not have the training or capacity to do.
  • Attend to the personal needs of patients/clients by undertaking tasks that encourage self‑care, maintain privacy and dignity, and respect cultural and spiritual needs at all times.
