Job description

Band 3 HCA – Day Case Unit, Broadgreen Site, Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

This is a great opportunity to join the team to support a new enhanced treatment room and to work on the well-established day case unit.

We are looking for an experienced HCA with NVQ Level 3 to join the nursing team. The role is full-time or part-time.

Responsibilities
  • Admitting planned surgical and orthopaedic patients.
  • Preparing patients for theatre.
  • Post‑operative care of patients under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
  • Assist patients in meeting their hygiene needs and carry out all aspects of personal care and grooming.
  • Recording patient observations and reporting any untoward events to Registered Nursing staff.
  • Documentation of care plans on PENS.
  • Preparation and serving of patient meals, drinks and snacks; assist/ feed patients as necessary.
  • Report patients' dietary intake as indicated in the plan of care.
  • Carry out movement and handling within safe practice guidelines from mandatory training and in relation to the patient’s manual handling plan.
  • Assist in the prevention of pressure sore development as directed by the Registered Nurse in conjunction with the patient’s plan of care.
  • Obtaining specimens from patients for ward or laboratory testing.
  • Maintain due regard for customs, values and spiritual beliefs of patients and carers.
  • Assist patients in preparation for procedures and post‑procedure care.
  • Support all individuals through effective communication.
  • General bed making/making up of clean beds; clear and clean vacated bed spaces; prepare ready for use according to ward/unit protocol.
  • Assist in maintaining a clean and safe environment in all areas and following Infection Control guidelines and policies.
Qualifications

Experienced HCA with NVQ Level 3. Full time and part time posts available.
