Working under the guidance of registered professionals, you'll support patients and those important to them with personal care, symptom management, and emotional support.

We're looking for a Healthcare Assistant to join our team in Carmarthenshire providing compassionate, high‑quality end‑of‑life care during night shifts.

Salary: Marie Curie Clinical Pay Scale Band 2 (aligned with AFC) £24,833 pro rata per annum + enhancements

Contract: Permanent. Part‑time, night shifts – 36 hours/week

Based: Community Based Carmarthenshire

What we’re looking for:

• NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care or equivalent Level 2 qualification (e.g. NCFE, BTEC), plus functional skills in numeracy and literacy at Level 2
• At least 6 months of recent care delivery experience in a health or social care setting
• Strong communication skills with the ability to hold person‑centred, empathetic conversations and work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
• Knowledge of palliative and end of life care, including holistic care planning and symptom management
• Ability to plan and prioritise care, respond to changes in patient condition, and elevate appropriately
• A valid driving licence and access to a vehicle

Person Specification

Experience

• In a health or social care environment
• Recent professional experience of providing care and caring for dying patients.

Qualifications

• National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) Level 2 in Health and Social Care OR an equivalent alternative Level 2 Qualification i.e. NCFE level 2 Certificate in Healthcare Support Services, BTEC level 2 Health and Social Care.
• Functional skills at level 2 in numeracy and literacy or equivalent.
• National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) Level 3 in Health and Social Care OR an acceptable, alternative Level 3 Qualification.
• Basic Food Hygiene Certificate.
