Job summary

Circle Health Group's The Sloane Hospital seeks a Healthcare Assistant to join the bank theatre team in Kent. This as-needed role supports busy periods and covers annual leave, delivering compassionate patient care and aiding with hygiene, nutrition and mobility.

You will work with nurses, doctors and therapists, perform routine observations after training, and assist with basic clinical tasks. NVQ2/3 in Health and Social Care is desirable; prior theatre experience is essential.

Qualifications

• Theatre experience in a care or health support role is essential.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills with a caring, compassionate attitude.
• Ability to follow instructions and maintain accurate records; basic literacy, numeracy and IT skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with personal hygiene, washing, dressing, toileting and mobility.
• Help with eating, drinking and nutritional support; document intake.
• Provide comfort and emotional support to patients and relatives.
• Record routine observations (BP, pulse, resp rate, temp, SpO2, glucose) after training.
• Support wound care setup, catheter care, pressure area prevention and mobility aids.
• Prepare and maintain clinical areas and equipment for patient use.
• Collaborate with nurses, doctors, therapists and admin staff to ensure safe care.

The Sloane Hospital Bank Shifts Salary: Up to £14.00 per hour (depending on level of experience, training and qualification)

The Sloane Hospital in Kent is part of Circle Health Group, Britain's leading provider of independent healthcare with a nationwide network of hospitals & clinics, performing more complex surgery than any other private healthcare provider in the country. We have an opportunity for a Healthcare Assistant to join their team of staff in the Theatres department. This is a bank role working on an “as and when required” basis, you will be required to supplement staffing levels during busy periods and provide cover for existing staff in times of annual leave or absence.

Duties of this role include:

• Assist patients with personal hygiene, washing, dressing, toileting, oral care, and mobility needs, respecting their preferences and dignity.
• Help patients with eating, drinking, and nutritional support, including documenting intake where appropriate.
• Provide comfort and emotional support to patients and relatives, creating a caring and safe environment.
• Carry out and accurately record routine observations such as blood pressure, pulse, respiratory rate, temperature, oxygen saturation, and blood glucose levels (after appropriate training).
• Support basic clinical procedures, including wound care setup, assisting with catheter care, pressure area prevention, and mobility aids.
• Prepare and maintain clinical areas, including trolleys, beds, and equipment in readiness for patient use.
• Work collaboratively with nurses, doctors, therapists, and admin teams to support safe and efficient patient care.

Applicants should meet the following criteria:

• Previous Theatre experience in a care or health support role essential.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills with a caring, compassionate attitude.
• Ability to follow instructions and elevate concerns appropriately.
• Basic literacy, numeracy, and IT skills.
• Physically able to undertake duties including moving and handling tasks.
• NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent qualification) desirable.
• Knowledge of safeguarding, infection control, and confidentiality procedures.
