A Band 2 Health Care assistant in the NHS provides essential support to healthcare professionals and assists in delivering high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Patient Care: Assist with personal care tasks such as bathing, dressing, and feeding patients, ensuring their comfort and dignity.
  • Support Activities: Help patients with mobility and daily living activities, including toileting and meal assistance.
  • Monitoring: Observe and report any changes in patients' conditions to qualified healthcare staff, maintaining accurate records of patient information.
  • Team Collaboration: Work as part of a multidisciplinary team, supporting registered nurses and other healthcare professionals in delivering care.
  • Infection Control: Adhere to infection prevention and control policies to maintain a safe environment for patients and staff.
The main duties of a Band 2 Healthcare assistant in a hospital setting include:
  • Personal care duties: Assisting patients with bathing, toileting, dressing, and meals.
  • Reporting patient conditions: Informing qualified staff about the patient's condition and recording patient information.
  • Supporting clients: Assisting clients with mobility and maintaining their personal hygiene.
