Job description

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Healthcare Assistant to join the team at HMP New Hall, a female prison and young offenders institution (YOI) in Flockton, West Yorkshire.

This is a varied environment where you will gain experience across primary care, including emergency response, working on the wings, clinics, health promotion, and more. No two days are the same in this challenging yet rewarding and supportive environment. Please note that this is a clinical role and requires competence in skills such as venepuncture, ECGs, NEWS2, etc.

Full time role, 37.5 hours per week. Shifts include days and nights, with typical schedule of one week of nights per month (3 shifts) and around two weekends per month.

Annual salary £25,557 – £29,723 per annum, depending on experience.

Main duties of the job
  • Ensure continuity of care for all patients and deliver outstanding care at all times
  • Carry out bloods, observations, ECGs, etc.
  • Work across all areas of care, including inpatients, clinics, primary care, health promotion
  • Respond to emergency situations as needed
  • Work holistically with patients and other healthcare staff (nurses, pharmacy, etc.)
  • Deliver personalised, non‑judgemental care based on patient feedback
  • Contribute to and implement care packages, assist with health promotion, wellbeing and clinics

Qualifications
  • NVQ Level 2/3 qualification in Health & Social Care, or equivalent
  • Experience within a healthcare setting (hospital, community or secure setting)
  • Clinical experience (bloods, observations, ECGs, etc.)
  • Experience in primary care or inpatients (bonus)
  • Non‑judgemental and compassionate approach
