Job Summary

About Us

We provide hospital services from two acute sites – Darlington Memorial Hospital and University Hospital of North Durham. We also operate a centre for planned care in Bishop Auckland and provide care from community hospitals in Chester-le-Street, Shotley Bridge, Barnard Castle, Sedgefield, Weardale and many other community settings, as well as patients’ homes.

Job Responsibilities
  • Take instructions from the qualified nurse
  • Deliver personal care to ensure hygiene needs are met
  • Ensure nutritional needs are met
  • Assist with toileting
  • Carry out vital observations
  • Assist with mobilising patients
  • Ensure necessary documentation is kept up to date and recorded accurately
  • Communicate with patients, relatives and other members of the multi‑disciplinary team
Person Specification – Essential
  • Self‑motivated and able to motivate others

  • Ability to work in a busy and varied work environment and respond to change

Essential skills include computer proficiency and the ability to learn new skills. Desirable experience includes previous care experience and relevant training courses.
