Overview

We have an exciting opportunity for a Healthcare Assistant to join the Primary Care team at HMP Risley, a category C prison located in the Risley area of Warrington. This is a crucial role within the healthcare team, making a real difference to patients and delivering outstanding care. HMP Risley has an operational capacity of around 1100 inmates and is a 20‑minute drive from Warrington and 30 minutes from Wigan.

Hours & Staffing

This is a full‑time role, working an average of 37.5 hours per week, between 20:30 – 07:30. Flexible shifts are available: 7 nights on / 7 nights off or split over a two‑week period, e.g. 4 on / 3 off / 3 on / 4 off.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure continuity of care for all patients and deliver outstanding care at all times.
  • Work across all areas of care, including inpatients, clinics, primary care, health promotion, and bloods.
  • Respond to emergency situations as needed.
  • Work holistically with patients and other healthcare staff, including nurses, nursing associates, and pharmacy.
  • Deliver personalised, non‑judgmental care based on patient feedback.
  • Contribute to and implement care packages, assist with health promotion, wellbeing and clinics.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Hold a NVQ Level 2 / 3 qualification in Health & Social Care, or equivalent.
  • Have experience within a healthcare setting – hospital, community or secure setting.
  • Experience in primary care or inpatients is a bonus.
  • Maintain a non‑judgemental and compassionate approach.
