We have a fantastic opportunity for a Healthcare Assistant to join the team at HMP Wymott, a Category C male prison located in Leyland. HMP Wymott has capacity of around 1,100, and has a varied and complex population.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join the team, and work in a varied environment, where you will gain experience across primary care, including emergency response, working on the wings, clinics, health promotion, and more! No 2 days are the same in this challenging, yet rewarding and supportive environment.

Please note that this is a clinical role, and we need candidates that are competent in skills such as Venepuncture, ECGs, NEWS2 etc.

Hours:

This is a full time role, working 37.5 hours per week. Shifts are between 07:30 - 18:00, with alternating weekends.

You will work 07:30 - 18:00 3 shifts per week, and 07:30 - 15:30 one shift per week.

Salary:

This position is full time , you’ll receive an annual salary of £25,557 - £29,723 per annum - depending on experience.

What you'll be doing

As our new Healthcare Assistant, your responsibilities will vary. Some of your duties will include:

  • Ensure continuity of care for all patients, and deliver outstanding care at all times
  • Carry out bloods, obs, ECGs etc.
  • Work across all areas of care, including inpatients, clinics, primary care, health promotion, bloods etc.
  • Respond to emergency situations as needed
  • Work holistically with your patients and other healthcare staff, including nurses, nursing associates, pharmacy etc.
  • Deliver personalised, non judgemental care, based on patient feedback
  • Contribute to, and implement care packages, assist with health promotion, wellbeing and clinics

  • Hold a NVQ Level 2 / 3 qualification in Health & Social Care, or equivalent
  • Have experience within a healthcare setting - hospital, community or secure setting

  • Any experience in primary care or inpatients would be a bonus!
