Job Summary

Unlock your best work life and make a difference to every life while working as a Healthcare Assistant at HMP Wymott, a Category C male prison located in Leyland. The prison has a capacity of around 1,100 and hosts a varied and complex population.

Position

Healthcare Assistant – full‑time, 37.5 hours per week. Shifts run from 07:30 – 18:00 with alternating weekends; three evening shifts and one early shift of 07:30 – 15:30 per week.

Salary

£25,557 – £29,723 per annum, dependent on experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure continuity of care for all patients and deliver outstanding care at all times.
  • Carry out bloods, observations, ECGs and other clinical procedures.
  • Work across all areas of care – inpatients, clinics, primary care, health promotion and bloods.
  • Respond to emergency situations as needed.
  • Work holistically with patients and other healthcare staff, including nurses, nursing associates and pharmacy.
  • Deliver personalised, non‑judgemental care based on patient feedback.
  • Contribute to and implement care packages, assist with health promotion, wellbeing and clinics.

  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health & Social Care, or equivalent.
  • Experience within a healthcare setting – hospital, community or secure environment.
  • Clinical experience such as bloods, observations, ECGs.
  • Experience in primary care or inpatients is a bonus.
