Transport and Outbound Delivery Manager – Thatcham

Our Transport team are now looking for a Transport and Outbound Delivery Manager to lead our operations at Thatcham. You will be at the centre of our transport operation, working with a small but mighty fleet and a close‑knit team to ensure our deliveries run smoothly, compliantly and sustainably.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the day‑to‑day operations of the Transport and Outbound Delivery team, ensuring all deliveries are executed efficiently, compliantly and to the highest standards.
• Lead a team of direct reports, including an Assistant Manager, a Transport Compliance Trainer and four Team Leaders.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders across multiple sites (Harrods Estates, Harrods International and Harrods Aviation) to maintain fleet safety and sustainability.
• Support the Assistant Manager and step in to lead the team in their absence.
• Work closely with the Transport Compliance Trainer to maintain training standards and legal compliance.
• Liaise with internal stakeholders across multiple sites to ensure smooth and timely deliveries.
• Manage third‑party delivery providers, including monthly account reviews and performance monitoring.
• Oversee vehicle checks, insurance claims and accident investigations.
• Support operational delivery through KPI tracking, SOP development and budget planning.
• Participate in the duty manager rota, including one weekend in ten.
• Be flexible with working hours – core hours between 7 am and 6 pm and occasional early starts or late finishes to support the team.

Qualifications & Experience

• Hold a National Certificate of Professional Competence in Road Transport Operations or a comparable qualification.
• Have experience managing transport operations, ideally within a smaller, agile fleet environment.
• Be flexible with working hours and happy to work on a rota, including early starts and occasional weekends.
• Have a strong understanding of vehicle types and delivery planning.
