Ward 10 is a 24‑bed nurse‑led step‑down unit recruiting staff to join the team. This is an exciting opportunity for Health Care Assistants who are highly motivated and enthusiastic, with a keen interest in caring for patients with nursing needs.
Applicants should display effective communication skills and deliver high‑quality patient‑focused care. The unit is friendly and supportive and has a commitment to providing high‑quality nursing care.
The post holder will support the Nursing team in providing care to patients acting under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse. The post holder should work effectively within a team environment, have good communication skills, initiative, demonstrate enthusiasm about the role and share our passion and vision for providing high‑quality patient care.

We are unable to sponsor Healthcare Assistants without 2 years band 3 NHS experience.
If you are new to care you must complete a Care Certificate when you commence employment with CDDFT and be paid on Annex 21 arrangements (£24,465) until completion.

We provide hospital services from two acute sites – Darlington Memorial Hospital and University Hospital of North Durham. We have a centre for planned care in Bishop Auckland and provide care from community hospitals in Chester‑le‑Street, Shotley Bridge, Barnard Castle, Sedgefield and Weardale as well as over 80 other community‑based settings and providing care in patients’ homes.

From April 9th 2025 – Healthcare assistants – You must have a minimum of two years of experience working within the NHS as a HCA for the Trust to consider sponsorship (we will only consider sponsorship if you meet this criteria and have a current visa expiring within 3 months).
The post holder will support the clinical team in providing care to patients acting under the direction of a registered nurse.
