Job summary

Priory Hospital Norwich in Attleborough is seeking a Healthcare Assistant to join a 24/7 inpatient mental health team. The role is full time (38.39 hours) on a fixed shift pattern with a salary of £27,616.53 per year.

You will support patient care plans, assist with daily tasks and work closely with registered nurses to promote wellbeing. Applicants should have NVQ1 or GCSEs in Maths and English, basic IT skills and the ability to communicate effectively with staff, patients, and visitors.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Assist qualified staff with patient care plans and routine tasks to support wellbeing and dignity.

  • Observe and monitor patient wellbeing and report unusual changes to senior staff.
  • Perform delegated interventions under supervision, including observation, engagement and escorting on leave.
  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to ensure consistent patient care.

Priory Hospital Norwich has an opportunity for a Healthcare Assistant to join our team. The role is full time of 38.39 hours on a fixed shift pattern, with a salary of £27616.53.

Priory Hospital Norwich, Attleborough, Norfolk is a 24/7 inpatient mental health service providing care for males and females across wards of differing acuity, including medium to high risk patients. It is accessible by public transport, with limited local bus services and Attleborough railway station approximately 1–2 miles from the hospital. Due to the rural location of the service, access to a vehicle or the ability to drive is recommended.

You will be part of a compassionate team who are committed to our patients wellbeing. We take a personalised approach, using proven therapies to help people move forward with confidence and build a healthier, more fulfilling future. You will play a key part in their recovery, assisting qualified staff with the assessment and implementation of individual patient care plans, undertaking routine tasks and activities as directed or delegated to facilitate wellbeing, dignity and treatment of patients.

  • Assists qualified staff with the assessment and implementation of individual patient care plans undertaking routine tasks and activities as directed to facilitate the wellbeing, dignity and treatment of all patients.
  • Provides practical support and responsive care to patients who require assistance with intimate personal needs such as dressing, bathing and toileting activities ensuring that such activities comply with procedures and the relevant healthcare legislation.
  • Observes and monitors the wellbeing of patients ensuring that any unusual physical, mental or emotional occurrences are promptly referred to senior staff/the primary nurse and documented as appropriate.
  • Provide specific interventions with patients as delegated by a Registered Nurse, and following training and competency attainment. Such interventions include Observation and Engagement with Patients, escorting patients on leave, and being involved in de‑escalation and management of violence and aggression.

Well‑developed observational and listening skills are essential for monitoring the mental, emotional and physical wellbeing of patients.
